Woodland Park Lodges

Located in the heart of the Shropshire countryside with good road and rail links to the major cities of Birmingham, Liverpool, Manchester and London.

Ellesmere

Woodland Park Lodges is located just under 3 miles from the vibrant market town of Ellesmere.  The town is famous for its spectacular mere or lake, which covers 48 hectares and is 19 metres deep.  You can hire a rowing boat, enjoy a spot of fishing, take a trip on the steam boat or watch the herons and other wildlife from the Visitors Centre.

Llangollen Canal

Designed by Thomas Telford, this amazing waterway was once an industrial lifeline between the Midlands and the Mersey.  Now it’s a calm and tranquil spot to enjoy leisurely afternoons and can be reached at the Maestermyn Marina just outside Ellesmere.  You can hire a narrow boat or simply relax in one of the many waterside pubs and restaurants.

Shrewsbury

Birthplace of Charles Darwin, Shrewsbury is a fascinating medieval town with beautiful half timbered buildings, and is only 15 miles from Woodland Park Lodges.  The River Severn runs through the town and boat trips, canoeing and fishing are popular.   Attractions include the Abbey, Castle, Quarry Park and nearby Attingham Park and Hawkstone Park and Follies.

Wrexham

An absorbing town in the North Wales Borderlands whose skyline is dominated by the 14th century St Giles Church, Wrexham has a vibrant nightlife with several theatres and a range of bars and restaurants.  There is plenty to do for all ages, from family fun at Waterworld and walks along the Offa’s Dyke footpath to historical attractions such as Chirk Castle and Erddig Hall.

Chester

Walks, Mountains and Beaches

Of course there are enough walks around Woodland Park Lodges to satisfy anyone, but if you wish to travel further afield, the stunning countryside and mountain range of the Snowdonia National Park can be reached in a little over an hour.  Here you will find some of the most breathtaking scenery in the UK.  Shropshire too has its walking attractions, with the Offa’s Dyke footpath, Stiperstones, Long Mynd and the Stretton Hills.

If it’s beaches you’re after the long sandy expanse of the North Wales coastline is nearby with the coastal towns of Rhyl and Prestatyn just over an hour away.
